Today on the spindle we have this…
Actually I started this at our knitting group meetup last night, but today I kept finding myself picking it up and spinning a little more. The fibre’s some of my hand-dyed superwash BFL, which drafts really smoothly. It’s one of a new semisolid range of colourways that I’ve been trying, and I have to say I love spinning it. I haven’t quite decided what the yarn will be yet, I’m just enjoying the process of spinning it.
Oh yes, and the spindle? That’s one that mum made a few weeks ago and as soon as I saw it I claimed it for my own… The whorl is made from holly wood from our own copse, and is a creamy white colour with a beautiful smooth finish. It’s a very lightweight spindle, only about 18g. It doesn’t spin super fast, which means that it’s a wily little thing… I start out with a moment snatched during the working day, wanting to spin just a few yards to give my hands something to do while I wait for the kettle to boil. And then the spindle asks me “What’s the hurry? You should relax… why not sit here and enjoy some quiet time with me?”
I really can’t argue with a spindle that speaks such sense!
