As promised, here’s some exciting sheepy news: Meet the new girls!
They’re a pair of white Ryeland ewe lambs, who I collected from their breeder last week. They’re a bit fancy, with pedigree papers and official names. The little lady on the left is Holly Heath Summer, and her companion on the right is Holly Heath Skye.
They’re very sweet and really tame, they’ve been to several shows, and they’re the only ewes in my flock who will lead on a halter! At the moment they’re still working out whether my coloured Ryeland ewes are actually sheep, or fierce teddy bears. They haven’t integrated too well yet, but I’m sure they’ll settle in with time.
As you can see, all the sheep had extra feed this week during the snow, here’s Leah tucking into some hay.
But as of today, most of the snow has melted, so they’re chowing on grass again. I’m happy about that, as hauling out 2-3 bales of hay per day for all the livestock was pretty hard work.
